"When I went to LemonGrass as a volunteer I had no idea what to expect. All my doubts were removed from the time I met June Niampan (LemonGrass Manager) who is an amazing Thai woman who has a passion to be involved in teaching English to the local Thai people where there is a growing need and interest. Both June and Adrian Jamieson (volunteer coordinator) had liaised with me prior to arriving in Thailand and nothing was too much trouble either prior to my arrival at LemonGrass or during the three weeks while I was teaching English as a volunteer. In fact the care and interest shown was almost overwhelming, until I realised this is what they do so well!"

"Volunteering with LemonGrass was a wonderful experience for us. They care about all the details which made our time in Thailand perfect. They picked us up when the night train from Bangkok came into Surin at 4:00 in the morning. They made a wonderful placement at a rural school and provided support to us at the school. The house was a very comfortable base for us to go on adventures from. The town of Surin is within bike distance (and the bikes that are provided are good!) Thank you to LemonGrass for going above and beyond and giving us the chance to speak with Buddhist monks, explore local foods and for making us feel welcome."

"Having completed my CELTA in the summer and travelled to Thailand with friends I was keen to gain some experience teaching before deciding if I wanted to take it up as a full time career. I contacted LemonGrass and within a week travelled to Surin, met June and started teaching English to 8-12 year old kids. June was a trooper, immensely helpful with everything from advice on lesson planing to showing me around Surin, helping with my visa run to Cambodia and onward travel back to Bangkok. The teaching was great fun, the kids are so lively and there was never a dull moment! June couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful and I immediately felt at home. Working with LemonGrass is a great experience, I highly recommend it!"

"The LemonGrass house was very comfortable and Aor was a great housemate! It was really useful having the use of the computer for lesson plans etc. The teaching books and materials were also helpful and the bicycles were handy to get around. June was extremely supportive and friendly. I had a great experience overall and am considering going into teaching after I graduate. Only real downside was that I only had 2 weeks."

"Staff support was excellent and way beyond my expectations. June called into us daily, escorted us to class and also escorted us on a trip at the weekend. June and Aor took us out many evenings for food and drinks as well as cooking Thai meals, barbeques etc for us. It was almost like we were guests rather than volunteers. Overall, we were extremely well looked after and the visit was a very social one."

"A good experience, I'm glad I did it. I found the kids to be very friendly and the teachers welcoming. It was always nice to come to school each morning and see the familiar and friendly faces. I enjoyed watching the sports day and always liked the food the school put on for lunch. The only sad thing was that it had to end after my two weeks I signed up for. June at LemonGrass volunteering was very helpful with any queries I had about Surin or Thailand, as well as about the actual teaching process."
